Cooperation

There are many young people who want to physically support our work in West Africa. If you are one of them please read this information before applying.

The “Development Aid in West Africa” NGO is financed through private funds and has no means to pay flight tickets, cost of living, vaccinations, housing, etc., for visitors who want to work on the projects. We have no infrastructure (buildings, cars, doctors) to house and take care of helpers. We have no license which would, for Europeans, recognize working with us as practical training or as civil service replacing the draft requirement. Although we do work in the “bush”, the rural areas of the Republic of Benin, this does not mean that we offer adventurous holidays.

I employ African specialists and workers in order to create jobs for citizens of the Republic of Benin. However, if any qualified masons and/or carpenters are willing to pay all of their own expenses to come to work with Beninese specialists, please contact us.

If you have questions concerning development aid, please contact the DED (Deutscher Entwicklungsdienst) in Germany or similar organizations in your own country.

If you have a medical background, please look into the work of Konna e.V., a German NGO in Mali.

Another possibility for young people is to contact the MaZ (Missionarin auf Zeit), temporary missionaries organized by the Spiritaner.

Be aware that these organizations demand a sound preparation of up to three years before you will be ready to be sent abroad. Also, you will be required to pay for your own expenses most of the time.

Whoever wants to become involved in aid for developing countries because they are bored or simply want to pass the time should reflect on the fact that this kind of “Aid Tourism” will not help anybody.
